Musical Fidelity mx-stream - Volumio

Good afternoon.
I have a paid annual Volumio subscription and a Musical Fidelity MX-stream.
Can I install Volumio firmware on the Musical Fidelity MX-stream and then restore the stock firmware and use my streamer as before?
Will the Volumio firmware work correctly on my Musical Fidelity MX-stream?
Will Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work on my Musical Fidelity MX-stream with Volumio firmware?
Thank you in advance for your prompt response.

Hi,
unlikely. Volumio is more than just a streamer, it is an OS on its own.
You need to flash an image, which comprises of the Volumio system including the OS it is running on. You can not separate them.
Volumio only runs on a select number of arm systems and x86.

So you can boot your device from a flashed USB drive with Volumio and test (if the MX-Stream allows USB booting).
Then it’s up to you keep on booting from USB to run Volumio, and keep the original SW intact, or shift to Volumio and flash it to the internal storage. (which means the original SW is gone)

Where there’s risk, there’s fun.

Is it possible to update to Volumio 4 version ?

Spec:

As @Wheaten already explained, you need to verify whether you can boot Volumio from a plugged-in SD or USB device. In principle, Volumio 3 or 4 would not differ. Still, you cannot boot the MF MX-stream and Volumio from the same internal device, hence booting from SD or external USB
