I am running a DIY TDA1541 tube DAC Streamer with a Pi4 connected wifi to the network. I stream from Tidal and Volumio was running a previous version. This setup is on the floor below the router. This has happened in the past but a couple days ago I was streaming and after a couple songs the music stopped but the player (peppymeter)was running. I rebooted the Pi4 and the music started to play again. Three songs in the music stopped. I did this about 4 times and then I could not get any music to play although the meters showed the music was streaming. I tried powered everything down from the audio system and my phone but no luck. I turned off my plugs and downloaded the current version of Volumio and still no music. This morning I tried again and everything is work fine. Could this be a network issue.
I have second DIY DAC/streamer setup on the main floor by the router and it was/is working fine.
At the moment it is not clear what has changed in your setup. You mention “previous version” and “current version”, but without the actual numbers we cannot tell whether you were on a Buster-based Volumio 3.xxx image or already on the new Bookworm-based 4.xxx series. To understand if this is a network quirk or a regression we need to pin down the details.
Could you please provide:
The exact Volumio version you were running before, and the version you are on now (full vX.XXX).
Which image family it is: v3.xxx (Buster) or v4.xxx (Bookworm).
Pi4 variant, power supply model, and what storage you are booting from (microSD or SSD/USB).
Whether the dropouts only happen with TIDAL or also with Web Radio or local files.
List of plugins enabled, especially visualizers like peppymeter.
Your audio output chain (I2S DAC HAT or USB DAC).
A log link captured right after the music stops: open http://<volumio_IP>/dev and paste the generated URL here.
With this info we can determine if the cause is network stability, a plugin side-effect, or a core regression in the newer builds.
Thank you for the response. I did not record the Volumio version before the update so I would be missing some information. This happens once in while so I will respond to this thread with the requested information the next time it happens.
