I have some .wav files on a micro sd card plugged into a usb card reader, all works well I access this through music library and usb and then i can list the files and play them. However if I remove the sd card and change the files the next time I start up when I try to access the card volumio displays the previous content of the card. The only way I have found to fix this is to change the volume label when I change the files. Is this a known problem or am I doing something wrong? If I was working with Rasbian Os, or whatever it currently called, I would unmount the disk before removing it but I don’t think i can do this from inside Volumio.
Volumio creates a database/list of the music, so changing the contents of the music library needs an update/rescan to create an updated database/list.
The behaviour is normal and expected. It’s designed to have your whole music collection on the storage, not just parts of it. It might be better to get a larger card or use a USB drive that is large enough to hold all your music.
How do I do an update/rescan ?
Found it, should have looked harder!
fyi, Performance is great on a large, quality MicroSD card. In addition it is the best/cleanest path for file based digital music to your DAC. On my Rivo+, I am running a SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDXC 1 TB A2, Class 10, V30, U3, 200 MB/s Transfer. It holds all my ripped SACD and CD disks in .dsf or .wav file format. It is super fast to access and queue up. As you already found, rescan is the mechanism to insure you realize any updates on your microSD card.
