Motivo Roon Ready DSD capabilities

Asking for a friend

Someone is using a Motivo as a Roon Ready endpoint. It is converting DSD to PCM, not DoP.

Roon support state the Motivo isn’t presenting itself as DSD capable.

They have asked the user to check the Motivo settings. They are not clear if they mean Roon’s setting for the Motivo, of the settings on the Motivo.

I’m a VolumioOS user with a RPi4 and can achieve native DSD and DoP by using the Roon Bridge plugin.

Is the Roon Ready implementation any different to what the Motivo can achieve?

Roon say they have asked the question (to who, not clear) but on my experience it’ll be a while before anything comes back.

The only way I can see the Motivo telling Roon it isn’t capable of Native DSD or DoP (based on the user manual) is if it’s connected to a non-DSD DAC via USB.

As the user is playing DSD I half expect they know they need a DSD capable DAC if connected via USB. I’m waiting for them to clarify.

Thanks

please make sure you have the DSD Direct option set in the Roon ready playback options

I am seeing exactly the same issue. I have set the Roon Playback Options in Motivo to DSD Direct as you suggested. But still in the Roon settings for Motivo there is no indication of DSD capability. Only PCM up to 768kHz is shown and Roon still converts to 32bit/352,8PCM.
Am I missing something here?
Via the Volumio App or the Motivo touchscreen I can play DSD.
Something to clean up with Volumio 4?
