Metrum Acoustics ONYX DAC3

Hello.

I am a Metrum Acoustics ONYX DAC3 owner that replaced a Cyan Holo 2.
I just inserted the new DAC into the playback chain but Volumio does not recognize the new DAC. The Holo 2 remains among the audio sources and in the drop-down menu there is no trace of any other DAC.

What should I do?

Is Volumio compatible with Metrum Acoustics ONYX DAC3?

If I try to update Volumio it also tells me that there are files that have been changed and that I should restore everything.
This is quite annoying because the personal configuration of Volumio takes time. I am currently on version 3.779.

Thanks

It seems that selecting the audio output as Hifacetwo UAC 2 the DAC works. Before with the Holo Cyan 2 I saw the same name as the source. This does not happen with the ONYX. Is this correct?

You know on a community board, we fully depend on the information you give us.
So far all we know is a DAC name and Volumio version.

  • Is this a USB or i2c DAC?
  • What hardware do you use for Volumio?
  • Which plugins are installed?
  • Post a log

output of:
cat /boot/config.txt
cat /boot/userconfig.txt

In your OP you wrote that there is no further DAC in the dropdown list.
Now you write that you selected “Hifacetwo UAC 2”.
At least confusing😉
Log still welcome…

What is printed/labeled on the DAC housing does not necessarily mean that the software internally returns the same name. It is what the supplier decided, it is the name returned by the used usb interface, quite normal.

What plugins do you have installed?

Sorry! You are absolutely right!
The connection to the DAC is with USB 2.0
I use the Raspberry.

This is log:
LOG

Given the update problems, I restored to factory values and redid the setting.

The DAC name is also not recognized but if I select, the DAC receives the signal from the Raspberry and it seems to work.
As with the Holo, I expected to find the DAC name.

Thanks

Before the restore I had installed peppymeter screensaver which requires manual intervention on the config to make it work. I think that’s what blocks the update but it’s so frustrating… Is there a way to install peppymeter screensaver and be able to do the updates without going back to factory data every time?

Thanks

Just disable Peppy_Meter, Update Volumio, enable Peppy_Meter.
