I have an external SSD drive connected via USB to my Pi 3B+ running Volumio. I use it to store music files/albums, etc., that I would like to play via Volumio.
When I access the music via either ‘Albums’, ‘Artists’, etc., not all of what I know if on the SSD is displayed. However, if I go in through ‘Media’, select ‘USB’ I can see all of the files/albums, etc.
Neither ‘Update’ nor ‘Recan’ seems to change this…so my question is…how do I get what is on the SSD to be reflected fully via ‘Albums’, ‘Artists’, etc.
This sounds like files on your disc are damaged, so the scan process skips them.
please perform a rescan and send a log (copying the url here) when the scan has completed.
It was exactly as you described. Some of the files had an artist and an album title but they didn’t have a Album Artist value. I loaded the file into a MP3 metadata editor and added the artist name into the Album Artist field . Saved and updated source and they now appear under Artist when browsing.
Many thanks for going to the trouble of providing the info. I shall investigate along those lines over the weekend and hopefully sort it out based on you info.
Just a quick update to say that I have settled on Tagscan as my tool given that I could not find a Windows version of TagEditor 2. That seems to have done the job nicely and easily in showing where metadata was missing and then allowing me to either enter it manually or import it from the web.
I am therefore now going to clear out what I have stored on the attached SSD and reimport the complete collection of albums including those fixed, to see if I can now see everything in Volumio.
