Losless spotify in volumio

Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding Spotify on Volumio.

Some time ago I was actually able to play what appeared to be Spotify Lossless through Volumio. At that time, the playback information indicated lossless quality and it sounded excellent. Later, however, I noticed that the Spotify plugin reports Ogg Vorbis, which suggests that it is no longer using Spotify Lossless.

Has something changed in the Spotify implementation?

Is there any plan to support Spotify Lossless through the official Spotify SDK in the future?

I have just ordered a Volumio Rivo+ SE with Lineo5, so this is something I am very interested in. Spotify is currently my main streaming service, and native Lossless support would make the Rivo absolutely perfect.

I would be very interested to hear if other users have had the same experience or if the Volumio team can clarify the current status.

Is there any plan to support Spotify Lossless through the official Spotify SDK in the future?

This was the latest official status I know of, dating from December 2025. In the same thread, people have asked about updates during the last few months, but nothing has been posted.
