Hardware - some kind of raspberry pi, can’t tell without taking it all apart.
Dac is the Hifiberry Digi-Pro, HW 1.2.
Volumio is at version 2.917. From October of 2021.
I can’t find any kind of compatibility chart, sorry if I’ve missed it. The last time I tried to update volumio it stopped working, and I found a note in one of the comments here that the Digi-Pro wasn’t supported at that time. I was able to downgrade back to the version I’m currently using, and it works, mostly, although plugins like spotify don’t.
I’d like to try updating again, but want to know - is this older dac supported now? Or should I get a newer one? And is there a compatibility list anywhere? Thanks!
Hi
In short the answer to your question is yes
I am running a RaPi 3b+ with a HifiBerry Digi-Pro. I am running Volumio 3.512 - the HifiBerry Digi -Pro is listed in the Playback Options section under Audio Output for i2S DACs. I also have a set up running Volumio with a Hifiberry Digi -Pro on a RaPi 2 with a WiFi dongle. Both sound superb!
So I did the update, and it still doesn’t seem to work. I think my card is just an older version of what you have, and not supported anymore. There are no entries for the Digi-Pro in the playback option section - there is a Hifiberry Digi+ Pro, but that one doesn’t work, as well as the other possible candidates. No worries, I’ve got a newer Digi2 Pro card ordered, hopefully it will work.
Thanks! I will try a fresh install if I still can’t get it working after getting the new Digi2 Pro hat.
I’m not sure what you mean by the Digi-Pro not existing - it definitely exists, I have one, and it worked great until upgrading to version 3 of volumio.
The official name of your HAT is “HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro”, even if the silkscreen on the PCB shows “HiFiBerry Digi-Pro”. Please have a look to the pictures on this link of the manufacturer website:
