Hi, I’m considering purchasing a mini PC rather than using my ageing laptop. Is there any problems with using this type of device rather than a Raspberry Pi.
Difficult to answer, the PI’s come in fixed configurations, with x86 you have zillion different ones. Although most of them will work, there is no guarantee.
The best thing you can do is ask this community if a specific mini PC has been tested before buying it.

You can try to setup a vbox to see if it works with your DAC.
In my case no issue so far except for Guest additions which can’t be installed on kernel 5 apparently.
