Ignore "Artist" tags in certain library

I have certain libraries that are mixes and compilations. There are clear “Artist” tags along with other metadata that have already been applied to them, so I am not looking at it from a library organizing perspective. When I add these libraries, whether it’s a matter of actual unique artists or VA tags, it seems that every track adds an unique artist to the library…useful if these artists actually have more than one song I will check out, but these mixes, remixes and compilations could be one off mixes and having the artist tag applied and adding to my database of artists renders it mostly useless now. Whenever I add these libraries, the artist count goes from a reasonable ~1200 to close to 9000 [almost a Dragonball Z joke!].

My question: Is there a way to instruct Volumio to ignore artist tags or any other specific tags when adding a library?

Put the album artist as Various Artists. That way the album songs will be shown together as one album with the title of the album.

  • Military Marching Music
    • Into Battle - Mr Sousa
    • Rifles Ready - Mozart
    • Homeward Bound - Billy Brass & His Bandmates
    • etc

I guess that is one way of doing it. But I don’t actually want to remove or alter the existing metadata of those libraries.
