IFI IPOWER for raspberry+HifiBerry DAC+pro

Hello to all.

I apologize immediately for the question, if too trivial.
I would like to improve the power supply of my volumio system.
The system is as follows: Raspberry PI 3 Model B + HifiBerry DAC + Pro.
I currently use a 5V 3A Micro USB power supply.
I would like to buy the IFI IPOWER, but I do not understand how to make the electrical connection.
IPOWER does not have a USB plug for the Rasp.
Does IPOWER need to power the rasp or the DAC?

Thanks for your patience

Max

Hi, there is an iFi power with micro USB, but it is generaly better to power the DAC directly and if possible to let the DAC power the Pi.

Even better is trying a lineair psu instead of a switchingmode psu but the iFi is a lot better already than standard.

You may also look at the other devices connected to the same power socket as they can influence a lot also.

Thanks Patrick.
I need to understand better.
Could I feed only the DAC without powering the RASP?
Does the DAC feed the RASP?
Do you give me advice on which power supply is better?

Hi, do a quick read-up on the HB DAC+ Pro, there is no out-of-the box connector for power on the DAC and it will not power the Pi.

But if you read https://support.hifiberry.com/hc/en-us/articles/205732441-DAC-Pro-external-power-supply?mobile_site=true, you can power the analog part of the DAC+ Pro via an independent 5V PSU.

If you feel up to it to go this route, I would suggest to look for a good 5V lineair power supply like from Audiophonics or SBooster or something simular and not the iFi.

But even when you are not up to the thinkering (yet), getting a lineair PSU to feed the Pi (which feeds the DAC+ Pro) is a good choice and you can always decide later to use this PSU to feed the DAC+ Pro once you decide to give it a try anyway.

Good luck.

I tried a powerbank with 5V/2,5A like Ansmann 20.8 and it works good. Allthough I did not went thru all kind of test listenings, but it works and makes you able to change the room etc …
