I also use IAN CANADA TRANSPORTPI DIGI II Ultra Low Jitter Digital Audio Interface Module
Sound via optical output excellent, powered via 3.3V port J3!
The only thing I didn’t manage to output via HDMI!

You have to correctly match I2S settings at dac. Transport Pi Digi pinout is the same as PS Audio standard. In denafrips it is first config (from 9 available)
I’m sorry, but I don’t know where to set what. The HDMI is connected to the AV amplifier.
I2S is not HDMI, it only use HDMI cable. I2S is only in some dacs and transports. Not amplituners. Dont use it, you can broke sth.
I am planning to buy Transport with isolator (option #4) with I2S connect to my DAC Gustard R26. Is there any known issue with proper I2S pin configuration? Thank you for confirmation.
I have been using it for three months. I don’t have an IsolatorPi III yet but plan to buy one (JosefZvol recommended).
I have a Raspberry Pi 4B; I2S device setup ‘Hifiberry Digi + Pro’.
Works great. At my place connected to Emotiva XDA-3 via coaxial.
Sonically it plays better than over a USB connection. I don’t have any DSD files in my library, only flac max. 24B/192kHz so for me this is a perfect solution.
The HdmiPi Pro II Flagship HDMI transport interface works faultlessly with my Gustard X30 over I2S, you just need to select the right I2S config in the Gustard in the X26 and you will be Ok.
I am comparing Volumio on the Holo Audio Red over I2S into the Gustard X30 vs the Ian Canada streamer, because the Holo Audio Red is more family friendly, rather than looking like someone vomited circuits out of a washing machine…
I’ve stopped using the Ian Canada HdmiPi Pro II Flagship HDMI transport, the Holo Audio Red sounds much better, presumably because the HA Red has a Pi Compute Module shielded from the HDMI board - I’m sure I could improve the Ian Canada transport sound by separating the stack of Ian Canada cards and Rpi 4 into a horizontal configuration, but the HA Red sounds great now, and I don’t have to kludge a case for the Ian Canada transport, so I will spend the time instead listening to music.
I was initially excited about the Ian Canada transport, but in the end, the sound wasn’t good enough… The HA Red is cheaper too, and runs Volumio very nicely…
