Once installed, I couldn’t quite figure out how to make it work for sync’ed multiroom, nor did it pass through MQA to the local client so my DAC could do the render. I tried a lot of things to make it work, but I couldn’t tell you what. There are a bewildering array of options with acronyms that I don’t understand. The fact that I was able to even get it installed is a small miracle as I’ve never dealt with Linux beyond burning Volumio to an SD card and booting. In the end, I just reinitialized everything off my original download of Volumio. There wasn’t much that I had customized, besides I’ve only been using it for a month.
What I found lacking was any step by step instructions. The Readme was not directed at a complete newbie like I am. It took a while to even figure out how to login to the RPi, and then how to do the download and then the install. I’m sure its easy if you use Linux even just occasionally. I’m in technology myself and when I send something new out I assume no knowledge at all. (Take this as a suggestion not a criticism. I know this is all done for free.) In any case I figured it out.
So is there something inherent to the Snapcast process of repackaging the bits to forward them that breaks MQA? (I think the answer is yes.) And what exactly would I need to do to get the second Volumio remote client to listen to the stream? And then the third…
