I am in the proces of building a integrated streamer / DAC based on a RPI and am looking on a solution for switching everything on and off.
Am using 2 power supplies (one linear for the DAC and a SMPS for the RPI and screen) and wonder how I can manage to turn on and off both supplies and the RPI with a momentary push button. I don’t mind if I need a small third supply for that as long as the rest can power on and off.
Google “raspberry pi power switch” and there are some options to buy and information about how different setups work. reddit discussions, rpi vendors, etc.
Found a solution: one button of a rotary encoder is wired to GPIO 3 so it wil shutdown and startup the Raspberry PI and the display… well… they are in standby mode and the SMPS power supply is stil “hot” but that is not an issue.
I wil use a 5v relay to switch power of the linear power supply so it powers on by script (controlling a GPIO pin)
