High-quality project

Hello everyone,

I’m building a new media player.
It’s based on a 4GB Raspberry Pi 5 with a 128GB SSD and an 11.9-inch Waveshare display for the main unit.
I’ll be using a StationPi by Ian Canada to neatly separate the “dirty” from the “clean” parts.

I’m using a FifoPi MA for reclocking and a dual PCM1794A DAC.
The I2S input/output LEDs are working fine, as are the clock selection and play LEDs.

But I have no sound—do you have any ideas?
I’m also having an issue with the Spotify plugin and Volumio 4, which requires me to re-authorize it every time I boot up.

Thanks to

@ThomasBuzet Take a look at the link; you need to do this to get sound out of the Dual PCM 1794A.

@michel8166
Thanks,

I checked out that link and tried it, but without success.
Last night I found a site that mentioned replacing the timers and going with the 20/22 models.
I might just go for it—about €50 at Audiophonics for both…
I much prefer to adapt the hardware rather than the software, which might stop working after updates…

If it doesn’t work, I’ll have to find a DAC that’s on par with the Fifo. I wanted to do the right thing and go for something high-end, but I didn’t anticipate this problem!!!
Too bad—I love the sound of the 1794; it’s warmer and less digital than the chips Sabre

@ThomasBuzet, That is strange that it doesn’t work.

I will take a look tonight at a friend’s streamer for which I made that PCM 1794A; it has been running like that for years with upsampling via FusionDSP.

As soon as I know more, I will let you know.
