I have a hardware question. I have a Raspberry pi3B and a Nuc10. I am thinking about getting the Raspberry pi5. The Nuc10 is a duo core but te pi is quadcore. Is the upgrade to pi5 worth it, or should I stick to nuc10? Nuc10 looks more stable than pi3. But I like the little pi for the looks. But off course sound is most importend. For example when I use the now playing plugin the pi3 sound gets distorted. How much RAM is adviced when choosing pi5?
The rPi5/4GB is more than adequate to perform the job. If you don’t mind spending a little more, I would choose the 8GB version.
Forgot, You do need a HAT or USB DAC as the rPi5 has only HDMI.
I have a Eversoloz6 DAC for headphones. And connected my active speakers also to USB port. Works on the rPI3
I am very happy with a RPi5/4GB with Volumio on NVMe. Very fast and sounds good too with a usb dac.
pi3 b+ with a linear power supply is more than enough for volumio.
got my rpi5 everything worked fine. Had a static ip en rebooted and everything but could not in my ip again. On my router it looks ip was changed. How is that possible? I am flashing it again an wil bind ip to mac adres that is saver I guess.
You need to set the fixed IP/Assign the IP in your router (DHCP reservation), Did you do this?
no I did not and I saw that I chose a bind ip that was reserved for other device. So that is why I could not in, I think. I do not think my Draytek router has dhcp reservation.
