The Volumio player I built uses an RpI, Digi2 Pro, 7 Inch LCD, see picture below. I am using the Manifest UI layout design. Originally along with the player controls I would see the hamburger menu in the upper left corner of the display of the touch screen. To shut down my player I would access the shutdown command from the touch panel via the hamburger display. Since one of the more recent updates the hamburger menu is gone from the touch screen. I can still see it from a web browser but I would prefer to only use player’s touchscreen.
I have not been able to find a config option to bring this back, how do I display the hamburger menu again? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Hello PSH. I am not replying to your request for assistance and I am pleased to see that your problem seems to have been resolved. I am really writing to enquire about the very attactive box that you have mounted your volumio application in. Here are my questions: 1) is the box that the touch screen is mounted in commercially available and if so what are the details? 2) ditto for the touchscreen itself and 3) Is the process of putting it all together beyond the scope of a complete novice who has the skill only to have installed Volumio on a RPi 4B and mounted it into an Argon ONE V2 case which is working very well but is nowhere near as pretty as your setup. Regards, JAWS
Hi Jaws,
Thank you for your compliments on my project. The box was customed designed in Blender and 3D printed. It’s at a point where I would like to release the files so anyone with a 3D printer could print them themselves.
I have gone through 4 or 5 revisions and this is the simplest and in my opinion the best looking version.
If you want to read some background on my design inspiration here is my faccebook post on the design:
This latest revision is a pretty straight forward project
Basic components are:
Case-
My custom designed case, which consists of 4, 3D printable parts (I may add a 4th, a back cover).
SBC (Single Board Microcomputer)-
For the processor running Volumio I am using an RPi 5 though anything from an RPi 3B+ and up should work fine.
Audio-
For the audio I have use two different audio boards (These are Raspberry Pi hats/daughter boards)
Option 1: The HiFiBerry Digi2 Pro which has both Optical for Coax output.
Available on Amazon here: Amazon.com
or
Option2: The IQaudIO DAC Pro this uses standard analogue RCA phono jacks out.
Note Option 1 is true digital out to the digital input on the amp and Option 2 is a DAC that converts the digital signal to an analogue signal. I don’t notice any difference in sound quality. Available on Amazon here: Amazon.com
Display-
For the dislay is a ElecLab 7.4 Inch 1280x400 Touchscreen Monitor HDMI Capacitive LCD Display Speaker Case for RPI 4B 3B+ 3B 3A+ 2B B+
It is available on Amazon her: Amazon.com
Note -I disable the onboard speakers
Other than basic jumper and switch settings on the LCD display some command line editing of the Volumio Linux config files are required to configure the OS to use the touchscren and properly format the display.
I also recommend a high quality power supply since it will be driving the RPi, the Audio output board and the Display.
