I was having trouble with volumio.local so I made a freshly formatted 8GB SD card and then made an image copy onto it. Booted my rpi 3+ and all was good. GUI showed up, did initial configuration, used volumio/dev to enable ssh. Samba was running as well and we could connect to default USB share as “guest”. All was good.
Then, I used volumio shutdow/reboot. Rebooted and I could log in at a terminal and by ssh, but no GUI response to volumio.local. Nothing ominous looking in log. Very frustrating. Any ideas where to focus?
How long did you leave it after the installation before rebooting?
I don’t know the exact time but it was 5 -10 minutes. Volumio was running after 5-10 minutes as evidenced by ssh access, but no gui. Is this normal behavior?
As it turns out, i left it running for hours and eventually, it connected but not via volumio.local For whatever reason, I tried the ip or the rpi (eg 192.168.10.113) and the gui appeared. Been working okay since then.
volumio.local etc. can sometimes be a bit hit and miss depending on what OS you are using. It might be better for you to use a static IP address set on your router, or from the Volumio UI.
