I have a Volumio running 3.703 playing back DSD over DoP into a Marantz SA-14S1 via USB-DAC. Choosing DSD Direct results in a message from the DAC stating unsupported. When DoP is selected the music can be heard, but there is a significant amount of white noise. Other than the patch to 3.703 nothing else in the system has changed since this was working and is a primary use case for the device. And this only affects DSD files. FLAC, etc., anything other than DSD plays back normally over the same connection.
I’ve tried disabling resampling, changing buffer size, and generally tinkering around in the playback section but no changes in behavior. It does this with every DSD file, so I don’t think it’s file corruption.
Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this? I’ve got more than a few DSD albums that I’d like to be able to listen to again.
Was just a thought based on my experience when using DoP.
The Mixer needed to either be disabled or volume at 100% for both DSD direct or DoP to work without any white noise.
I havent that many DSD albums and just ended up converting them to FLAC.
I have no idea why, but it suddenly started working again. I hadn’t touched it since finding the problem, but today I was playing a DSD disc and had the same disc as a download and wanted to compare to see if I could detect any differences and thought I’d give it another go. Glad I did. Still a bit annoyed that it had stopped working though.
