Display DFrobot DSI 5``

Hello, I bought an RPi4B 8GB with a 5-inch DSI display on tape. After connecting, there is no correct image on the display, only blurry images. I installed the display plugin and I still don’t have the correct image.

Try adding

lcd_framerate=59

to “/boot/userconfig.txt”.

Where should I enter this? Sorry for the question. I run Putty, enter the command line and…?

Open "/boot/userconfig.txt”

nano /boot/userconfig.txt

and add the suggested line.

Hit Ctrl+x, y and Enter to save the modified file. Then reboot.

Remove a line from the config.txt file? I added this line - and it starts displaying something, but is it still wrong?

No, I meant to add the line to "/boot/userconfig.txt”. If you instead already added it to "/boot/config.txt” you can leave it like that, but be aware that it will be lost on the next Volumio update.

Please post a picture how the display looks now.

In userconfig.txt I deleted the entry that it can be added here and pasted lcd_framerate=59. Restart and the image is as in the picture
I did it on a clean system without TOUCH DISPLAY installation. Now after modifying the userconfig file I cannot install Touch display

Could you post a picture of the display without lcd_framerate=59?

On a Pi without the Touch Display plugin Volumio’s UI is not shown on a locally connected screen. But installing the plugin will not cure the issue the picture is showing.

No modifications required

I suggest to test now with lcd_framerate=53. Please post another picture then.

Unfortunately, it’s the same

Really exactly the same or just similar? At least the pictures with and without “lcd_framerate=59” show differences.

BTW: I think there are different versions of the display existing. Can you spot some version information e.g. on the display’s back?

TFT display with touchscreen v 1.0

IIRC at least that version had issues with Pi 4…, but I saw reports where setting “lcd_framerate” to a value lower than the specified 60Hz made the display work properly.

Sorry for repeating:

Really exactly the same or just similar? At least the pictures with and without “lcd_framerate=59” show differences.

Similar, very similar, I cannot install the screen plug-in on a clean installation

Then you might post another picture. Maybe it’s possible to get an idea in what direction to move.

Without knowing any detailed error message: This is most often a network issue and changing the repository mirror as described here helps.

New installation on another memory card. I reloaded the system, installed the screen plug-in and changed the entry in userconfig, txt. The screen works! Many thanks

What “lcd_framerate” value did you use in the end?

53
