DAC not showing up in output list

S.M.S.L D6S ES9039Q2M Digital to Analog Convertor (DAC)

I have this DAC connected to my Rasberry PI4B and 7" official touch screen.

It is not part of the output list and otherwise I only get option for headphones which defeats the purpose of building this rasberry pi streamer.

I’ve also ordered a HiFi DiGi Digital Sound Card Module I2S SPDIF Digital Audio Expansion Board Optical Fiber Module for Raspberry Pi 3/2 Model B

From Amazon but it has not arrived yet. It will give digital SPDIF out. So question is:

  1. Is there a fix for volumio detecting my dac via USB to USB-C into my DAC or am I dead in the water?
  2. Will the add on card enable it if I invest in a TOSLINK cable?

Or am I simply not going to get my DAC running with volumio from a rasberry PI?

Be great to know short term so I can cancel my premium signup.

Am on the latest volumio version as of the 14 FEB 2024.

please send a log right after the USB DAC is connected

A long shot, but your USB A to USB C cable may be a charger cable and not a a data cable. Charger cables are not formally part of the USB standard they are quite common.
