Crashes with searching

I have a Pi 3B+ and the AlloDigione, using a memory stick to store FLACS
It plays beautifully but cannot browse by albums and any search attempt makes it freeze. I have about 400 CDs worth on the memory stick.
Browsing by artist or genre works.

Any ideas?
