Cover & Mac they do not get along

Hello everyone, I have been using Volumio(ver. 3.569) in my Hi-Fi system, installed in the Raspberry Pi3 for about six years. A few months ago I replaced my old PC with a MAC, at this point the problems started, as when I download albums or make a digital copy of some CDs, I can no longer view the covers. To add metadata I use the same program I used with the PC (MP3Tag), the only variant is the computer. Someone can help me. I add that if it’s about changing some command on Linux to solve the problem I’m not able, I don’t want to change the player, I’m fine with Volumio is the number one.

Hello. Here are 2 possibilities:

  • your Mac’s browser’s cache has old/broken images - clear the image cache from your browser (or check with a different device, like your phone).

  • Check if the image files are on your Pi3. Enable ssh (http://volumioIP/dev), then use putty or a SFTP program like Filezilla to look in /data/albumart/web

Thanks for the suggestions, I’m working on it, it’s not easy for me to fiddle with this ‘aggeggi’ equipment. I wanted to add that to the Raspberry an external memory is connected where I store all the albums I update using the Mac.

That’s perfectly normal. When Volumio adds/indexes music from your external drive, it organises the image files into the directory I gave above. The audio files stay on the external drive.

I’d like to think I’m fastidious about each audio file’s tags. I too have an occasional issue where the image exists in the relevant subdirectory of /data/albumart/web but does not show when browsing albums. It’s not a browser cache thing for me. Sometimes if I delete an album and then put it back in the directory, the image will show up … but sometimes not. Sometimes the image will be present when I browse albums, then a few weeks later it might not be. I know this sounds bizarre and illogical (and to me, inexplicable).

I don’t think the files in /data/albumart/web are always deleted when you remove the music files and I see that sometimes I get 2 folders for the same artist if I’ve been deleting and re-adding them.

Always comforting to back that folder up when I’m happy that all my album and artist art is looking good.

HI

After a week of hard work I managed to solve the problem thanks to your suggestions. The problem was that inside the folders there were files that began with “._” and this meant that Volumio did not read the images correctly. I think that these files are generated during the creation of TAGs, I use MP3TAG. Is there any other program I can use on MAC that doesn’t cause problems?
