I wanted to ask the developers of volumio if there is a way to make a CD mechanism work on volumio.
I already imagine that the answer could be yes, as long as you know the command codes of the microcontrollers drives that drive lasers and motors.
If I provide the activation codes of the various commands such as “play - pause - next etc etc…”?
Volumio Premium (paid subscription plan) supports playing audio CDs on a connected USB CD drive. In the Volumio main menu, go to Sources and turn on “CD Playback and Ripping”. After you connect a CD drive and load a disc, you should see appear on the Volumio screen. It will also try to identify the disc and load album art and metadata from the web.
I haven’t tried it in a long time, but it didn’t work out for me because it doesn’t support gapless playback and I had issues with the CD drive spinning up and down, causing interruptions while playing music.
