Connecting to network

Volumio 3 Issues?

Virgin recently changed my network password and I am unable to connect to my Revo plus dont know what to do. planning to return the Revo.

----------------------------- Delete here & above before posting below -----------------

It seems Volumio does not work with an apple iPhone after all.

Volumio works with an iphone, are the Rivo and iphone on the same network and subnet?
So both on 192.168.1.xxx?

Hard to tell , as I say I am unable to connect to the Revo. Tried android and apple

It’s a shame because it sounded really good when it worked .

Would welcome any advice on how to cure this

@DED for you! :wink:

Connecting to network - #7 by balbuze not sure what this means

Lets be honest the app needs a lot more work

Hi @jay1,

Thanks for reaching out. I’d like to clarify a few points and offer some steps to resolve your connectivity issue:

  1. Product Clarification:
Please note that Volumio did not manufacture the Revo product. If you meant the Rivo device, then it’s best to contact Volumio’s dedicated support channel for product-specific assistance rather than using this community forum. @Wheaten and @balbuze have already suggested to contact @DED.

  2. Password and Network Settings:
Neither the Revo (or Rivo) hardware nor Volumio automatically change your network password. The connectivity issue is most likely due to the fact that your network credentials have been updated on your router or your new router uses different WiFi password altogether.

  3. App Functionality:
The Android or iPhone app used to control Volumio isn’t responsible for the network connection. The issue lies with the device’s stored WiFi settings.

  4. Troubleshooting via LAN Connection:
To update your device’s WiFi credentials, please follow these steps:

    • Step 1: Power off your device.
    • Step 2: Connect the device directly to your router using a LAN (Ethernet) cable.
    • Step 3: Power on the device and allow it to establish a wired connection.
    • Step 4: Access the device’s configuration interface by entering its IP address in a web browser. (If you’re unsure of the IP address, you might use a network scanner or consult your router’s connected devices list.)
    • Step 5: Navigate to the network settings or WiFi configuration section.
    • Step 6: Update the WiFi password with your new network credentials.
    • Step 7: Save the changes and allow the device to reboot if necessary.
    • Step 8: Disconnect the LAN cable and test the WiFi connection.

I hope these steps help resolve your issue. If you have any further questions or if the problem persists after following these steps, please consider reaching out to the appropriate product support channel.

Kind Regards,

Thank you for your advice

Sorry to be a pain but will I be able to do this with my Mac or should I borrow a pc.

Hi @jay1,

You can definitely handle this with your Mac. Here’s what you need to do:

1. Connect Your Rivo to the Virgin Router:

  • Locate the LAN port on the back of your Rivo.
  • Use an Ethernet cable to connect this LAN port directly to one of the available LAN ports on your Virgin router.

2. Finding the Volumio IP Address on Your Mac:

  • Ensure Connection:
Make sure your Mac is connected to the same network as your router.
  • Using Terminal:
    1. Open the Terminal application on your Mac (found in Applications > Utilities).
    2. Type the command arp -a and press Enter. This will display a list of devices currently connected to your network.
    3. Look through the list for an IP address that could be your Volumio device. It might be listed by its hostname or simply as an unknown device.
  • Using Your Router’s Interface:
Alternatively, log in to your Virgin router’s admin page (typically at an address like http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1). Once logged in, check the connected devices list to find the one associated with your Rivo/Volumio device.

Once you have the IP address, enter it into your web browser’s address bar to access the Volumio interface, where you can update your WiFi password and any other network settings.

I have raised a ticket I am in a terrible mess.

I guess this is what I need to do. Yes, you can factory reset a Rivo Plus streamer by connecting it directly to a PC using an ethernet cable and accessing its settings through the web interface, allowing you to perform a factory reset from there; essentially, you’ll be able to navigate to the settings menu on the device through your computer browser once connected via ethernet.

Key points to remember:

  • Connection method:

Plug one end of an ethernet cable into the Rivo Plus streamer’s ethernet port and the other end into your PC’s ethernet port.

  • Accessing settings:

Once connected, open a web browser on your PC and navigate to the Rivo Plus streamer’s IP address to access its settings panel.

  • Factory reset option:

Within the settings menu, locate the “Factory Reset” option and confirm to initiate the reset process.

In my case Virgin have 192.168.18.xxxx
