CNC Machined Pi 5 Streamer – Custom Faceplate & Integrated DAC

Hi Everyone, I have just completed my custom Pi5 and Topping D10 build so thought I would share this with you.

I recently got back into hifi and wanted to stream the music stored on my PC to my hifi that I was putting together, I didn’t want to spend a lot purchased a 2nd hand Logitech Squeeze box it worked well but was a bit limited on the higher res tracks in that LMS had to transcode them (is that the right word lol).

I started thinking about the Raspberry Pi and a suitable OS, I ended up with a Pi5 4GB and a used Toping D10 and after trying pcp for a while settled on Volumio, it worked well in a little 3d printed case but I eventually wanted a screen and for it to blend in with my Hifi components.

I didn’t want to spend loads of money so when I looked at the price of new enclosures I decided to buy a broken Technics amp for £10 in the hope I could make a replacement front panel, I’m a machinist by trade so have access to CNC machines and plenty of aluminium.

It uses a Rasberry Pi5 4gb, Topping D10, Meanwell transformer, Waveshare 1920*485 DSI screen, a Bournes PEC11R encoder with a custom machined knob, USB & Network ports from Cliff electronics and a RGB LED power switch and my favourite part the custom machined 6082 aluminium faceplate to hold it all together.

Having looked at the quality of some of the builds on here I am somewhat nervous about posting mibne now  especially the internals as it looks like I just emptied a box of bits into it lol, anyway here are the pictures.
Thanks for taking the time to look, happy to receive feedback on it positive or otherwise.
