As far as I know /var/lib/mpd/tag_cache is your database.
You could SSH into volumio and delete the tag_cache file with
sudo rm /var/lib/mpd/tag_cache
Reboot your system
This seems to remove the database but not the source. so…
Goto sources and just click update.
Ive have just tried this on a test instalation of 3.569 and has the desired effect for me. All working again after the update.
