HI, I am in process of getting a 7" display I bought to work and sound good with volumio. THe display I have is 1024x600 HDMI IPS display. I followed install guide I foud on Youtube and I got it to work however this is EXTREMELY SLOW and Choppy. I am not sure what setting is best for my screen and such. The Pi is a Pi 3b. I was powering both the Pi and the display via the 5v input of the RPI however with my linear supply I kept getting under voltage lightning bolt, SO I’m powering both seperate for now.
Here is the install vid I used. I had ZERO Luck trying to follow the TONS of threads pertaining to both the Peppy Spectrum plug in and for Peppy meter. MAN what a night mare, too much old info and dead links etc. Can someone point me in right direction. ty
this is the problem, for a decent responsiveness of the UI on a local display you should upgrade to a Pi4 at least
As I expected. is 4gb enough
more than enough
I’ll chime in. If you are using Peppyscreen, the minimum/optimally is 4GB (and you will be using Random mode). Peppyscreen with 2GB will have Needle cache disabled. If you don’t use Random mode - as he wrote @Wheaten .
I totally get your frustration! I had a similar issue when I set up my own display with Volumio. For that 1024x600 screen, try using a lighter skin in Volumio to smooth things out—it really helped me when I was dealing with lag. I also messed around with the HDMI settings in the config file and found that adjusting the framebuffer size made a difference. Powering the Pi and the display separately is definitely the way to go; I ran into under-voltage problems too when I tried powering everything through the Pi. If you’re still having trouble, consider trying a different Pi model if you can; I found the newer ones handle displays much better.
