Hi all,
Today I received my Rivo+. Installation was easy and everything seems to work well in Volumio: Streaming Qobuz and Spotify via USB to my DAC. No problems.
On Internet I found a Dutch retailer claiming that for the Rivo the specific settings influence very much the audio quality. (For those who read Dutch: Volumio Rivo - Audiomaat ) but the author does not say anything about which settings. Volumio’s standard settings have most functions on “on”. I presume the advice would be to turn some of them off. Has anyone experience with improving the audioquality via changes in the settings or knowledge of any weblink with more information about this? I could not find anything in the community or on the web. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
I read the Audiomaat description for Rivo (with Google Translate) and it sounds as if the secrets will only be revealed to people who buy their Rivo from Audiomaat.
From my own experience, i have not noted any difference in sound quality when changing settings in Rivo.
Keep in mind that Audiomaat makes a living with tuning. But he lost my focus with placing a small piece of wood under a powerline block…
Thank you for you input. When I have time one day I will also experiment further with the settings.
Thank you for your observation. You may be right, a lot of those tweaks may not work or only in very special circumstances. However, I remain open to things that cannot be explained in first instance or sound silly. In the end it is not the physics as we know it now but the result to which we listen that should be decisive. Like the role of a burn-in period of equipment, which I have experienced with new equipment. The same may count for some settings. That is why I asked if people had heard any difference between different settings.
Yeah burn in, that was mainly in the old days, analog components, like transistors, capacitors.
Now almost everything is baked in IC’s where burn in has zero to very less impact.
Hi,
Another Rivo+ (Dutch) owner here.
Bought direct via Volumio so also unaware of any Audiomaat settings.
I use the Rivo+ with default Volumio settings, I believe there are not that many when connected to a usb DAC that should impact sound quality, maybe only upsampling?
Connected: Rivo+ standard network cable and switch > Audioquest Carbon > Qutest DAC > Grimm TPR RCA > Musical Fidelity M6si > Quadral Platinum M5.
Usage: Roon, Tidal via Volumio and local music playback stored on a NAS.
Changes besides default:
- Powersupply Sbooster, also for the Qutest, but never used it with the default powersupply, so cannot comment if there is a big change.
- Wifi off, just because connected via cable
- Sources all default (on)
What other settings do you change that impact sound?
