Can't get Asustor NAS properly set up

I am a newbie. I’m attempting to run my cd library, which is all stored on an Asustor AS5104T NAS through a raspberry pi to my home stereo. I have an applepi DAC connected to the raspberry. Volumio operating system seems to have loaded onto the raspberry just fine, and am trying to set it up using volumio/local.

The asustor NAS runs a linux type of code and so it seems like I should set up the volumio with NFS file share type. But I’m stumped from there. The Volumio setup shows that the NAS is not mounted. And Volumio doesn’t automatically recognize the NAS, so it seems I have to follow the manual setup. I haven’t been able to get Volumio to properly scan all of the music files I have stored, probably because I have something improperly set up in file sharing on the NAS or in the Volumio setup. The proper PATH designation to get to the music files is something I may be doing improperly, but various attempts don’t seem to get me closer to the answer.

Can any of you more experienced hands offer suggestions on steps I should attempt to resolve?

Thanks!

As a new user I struggled getting my Seagate NAS to mount. In the end I found a post on here which told about an Advanced Option of ‘vers=1.0’. I entered that and the struggling was over.

Tell us it didn’t help you.

I have continued to experiment in my effort to get my raspberry pi which is running volumio to recognize my Asustor NAS files.

I have finally gotten the volumio setup to show that the NAS is “Mounted” with no error message! As you would hope, the system begins to load Artists, Albums, etc. in the My Music tab of the volumio.local setup area. It steadily increments and reaches 90 albums, and then suddenly it stops and goes to zero. As if there are no real music tracks to identify. So no library gets built.

Have any of you run into this phenomenon before? Are there any next or additional steps you can suggest I follow?

Thanks for any advice!

Can you send a log after the library has reset to zero please. Have you checked that you don’t have any “strange”/corrupted media types in the directory on your NAS that Volumio is mounting. This has been known to cause problems previously for some people.

I believe your suspicion of a “corrupted” music file was spot on. I set up an alternate file with only a few of my nas stored albums loaded into that file, and volumio loads them into the library just fine. Playback works very well, too.

Thanks so much for the suggestion.

On another note – and this is probably for another forum, but I’ll ask anyway. I’m getting the same piece of album art for all of my albums. So in this case, I’m getting a very beautiful Diana Krall as the artwork for her album (the one I last loaded into the library) and also Diana’s artwork being the artwork for a Michael Buble album and a James Taylor album.

Any quick thoughts there?

Thanks again!

Just answered my own question about album cover art.

Never mind!
