CANNOT ACCESS UI VIA "VOLUMIO.LOCAL” OR IP ADDRESS ON FIRST BOOT

I can not access the UI browser from my PC using “volumio.local” . Further I can not access UI via the IP address. I can ping both IP and “volumio.local”. Note: ssh error “Connection refused”

Pi3 running Volumio connected to my home network via Cat5e cable.
volumio-2.513-2018-12-07-pi.img (MD5 verified)
OS - apple mac
Browser - chrome or safari

----------ERROR: (volumio.local/)

This site can’t be reached
volumio.local refused to connect.

ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

------------------ SSH ERROR
ssh pi@volumio.local
ssh: connect to host volumio.local port 22: Connection refused

However, I can do the following

PING : volumio.local
PING : 10.1.1.88

ssh is not enabled by default. You have to enable it in the UI. You can enable it without the UI by the instructions at he bottom of this page.

When I’ve had problems with Volumio, the first two things I do are try a different SD card or reflash, and try a different power supply.

maybe it is a problem with the router?
ip is weird, is it a home network?

If you can ping it, then the router did assign an IP address. That puts router/network issues lower on the list.

  1. Did you wait long enough (10+ minutes) after the initial boot? This is quite important.
  2. Have you tried re-flash the image? Maybe it’s bad luck. Make sure the card size is sufficiently large (8 Gb or more works best) and that it is compatible with your Raspberry Pi.

I have the exact same issue. I can ping the Volumio IP and volumio.local, I can see it connected to the router, but I can not see it in browser. I tried multiple flash cards, but same issue
