Greetings from the Netherlands! This has been a really fun little project — I’ve read and learned an incredible amount through this community, so thank you for that!
I built this setup based on an R4 with an external tube USB DAC. I’ve had a lot of fun with it; it could certainly be made much more professional, but that’s something for the next project.
I’d love to build another one using this as a foundation, but with a widescreen display and an internal DAC.
That said, I’m actually very happy with this setup as it is.
Thanks again for all the information and all the work you’ve done.
Yes sir, its my passion that good old Philips stuff.
This amplifier is the flagship of the hi-fi 70s era of Philips.
It’s the 561, a class A amplifier.
I love the Fish eyes ans the design of it.
There’s more in my house also the 832 combi with some motional feedback speakers 532.
Good idea!
A year ago I was looking for a nice streamer with a fun display that could show album art, just to make the whole setup look a bit more interesting.
While searching, I came across this site and started reading about everything that was possible.
So I bought a Raspberry Pi 4 as a base, along with a 7-inch Raspberry screen.
Since I work in the timber industry, there are plenty of options to build a nice wooden enclosure around it.
For now, everything is still very basic:
just a standard Pi power supply and a USB cable going to a small tube preamp.
But when I start upgrading, I’ll definitely let you know.
The idea is to work on it this winter.
