Hello,
Im a MyVolumio subscriber to support the project.
One of the perks is BT support, which works quite well, although the handover to other sources can be a bit glitchy and require reconnecting/restarting the app sometimes. But that’s not the core of my question.
It seems that the BT connection is not secured in any way, so while active any stranger on the road can play music on my system? Im not sure I can live with that risk. So I have it disabled at the moment,
Also, on my system (Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS, basically a Ubuntu, but with pipewire, instead of pulseaudio) I can only connect with the SBC protocol. It does offer SBC-XQ, but the connection crashes when I select that and I have to reconnect the device.
So: are other codecs supported, i.e. should I invest time to investigate the issue on my end, since my system supports all of them - including LDAC, or is this a limitation with Volumio?
If this is a limitation, when (if at all) will more codecs included? For a system that’s focussed on audio quality over convenience, it seems strange that only SBC should be supported.
If more codecs are supported would it be possible to include the codec in the volumio play screen. It does show the BT icon and the metadata correctly and it must know the codec it’s using
All in all: thanks for a great system. A Pi4 with an Allo Stack on top did replace a rather volumious (sorry for the pun) amplifier on my shelf - and it seems to sound better
So keep up the good work.
I also noticed a weird thing in the logs, when I checked if there is anything interesting when switching to SBC-XQ.
The volumio seems to register with libinput as a keyboard. There’s not a single key on that thing

When switching to SBC-XQ I don’t get anything useful, I think. It looks like it just disconnects:

Note: those logs are from my workstation, not the Volumio. Need to check those logs when I have a bit more time.
