I am thinking about a hardware EQ. So I have no software limitations. Anyone experience with a hardware EQ?
Not that one but I really like this one:
I look at the specs and the way it works. It is promising. But cost a lot of more euros. But a good EQ makes the difference. But it is not in stock at the moment.
There is also the lower cost, 4 band eq you can get. I have them both.
what are software limitation you are talking to?
It seems HW is less flexible…
I would answer @balbuze by saying the EQ in Fusion DSP is outstanding but I liked the external EQ for my Peachtree Amp where Peachtree offered a loop feature for a tool like the Schiit where it could be applied to any source not just the Volumio USB source. And so, I loved it for two reasons 1) for the reason stated above and 2) something about adjusting hardware on the fly that makes it a ton of fun.
Oh and 3) you can apply it to DSD audio where the Volumio can not.
Thanks you for yours explanation!
Enjoy your music
As a fellow hobbiest I understand your love for the look and feel for physically accessible hardware. But since all these signals start off digital I am assuming a software EQ will ultimately give you the most control. But if you want to build something that also looks super cool (secretly don’t we all), go for it, plus you can still use your EQ plugin. I guess that’s a win win for me. I am interested to see how the real engineers and audiophiles respond to your good question.
