Bad MP3 (?) files cause ODROID C2 Reboot

Hello World,
I’m not asking for help here but wanted to report what I’m seeing. I’m using the ODRIOD C2 with the HiFi Shield 2 and version 2.129.

When scanning my NAS, the device would seem to spontaneously reboot. Opening up telnet and doing a sudo journalctl -f while scanning showed the following:

Apr 14 17:34:39 volumio mpd[492]: update: added NAS/NAS_Music_Library/Phils/Electronic/Steve Roach/steve roach - 1999 - atmospheric conditions/03 in the heart of distant horizons (part 2).mp3
Apr 14 17:34:39 volumio mpd[492]: update: added NAS/NAS_Music_Library/Phils/Electronic/Steve Roach/steve roach - 1999 - atmospheric conditions/02 in the heart of distant horizons (part 1).mp3
Apr 14 17:34:40 volumio volumio[1003]: info: CoreCommandRouter::executeOnPlugin: mpd , getMyCollectionStats
Apr 14 17:34:43 volumio kernel: Unhandled fault: alignment fault (0x92000021) at 0x00000000eeb6530e
Apr 14 17:34:43 volumio systemd[1]: mpd.service: main process exited, code=killed, status=7/BUS
Apr 14 17:34:43 volumio systemd[1]: Unit mpd.service entered failed state.
Apr 14 17:34:43 volumio systemd[1]: mpd.service holdoff time over, scheduling restart.
Apr 14 17:34:43 volumio systemd[1]: Stopping Music Player Daemon…
Apr 14 17:34:43 volumio systemd[1]: Starting Music Player Daemon…
Apr 14 17:34:43 volumio systemd[1]: Started Music Player Daemon.[/b]

Removing the offending file allows the scan to continue.

I have quite a few mp3 files that cause Volumio to crash. Note that these files did not cause this problem with my older ODROID C1+. Scans would accept all these files.

I’m willing to do more testing to help out. Just let me know what you need.

Phil

This is a known problem.

Yes, we have located a problem but not decided on which way we are going ahead with it.
This is a nasty error and might take a while until released because it has to fit all platforms.
