Accessing attached HDD from another machine (RPi)

Hi. New to Volumio - installed and updated to V2.575. The Volumio installation is physically inconvenient to reach so I need to add and delete music files over wifi. But I can’t access the HDD attached to my Volumio RPi via another RPi device that I operate from my desk. My Windows machine can access Volumio which gives me a work-around but I’m trying to keep my business and entertainment worlds separated. With RuneAudio I could easily access the files on the HDD from another RPi or Windows…

My hope is that RuneAudio came with a default setting and maybe I could find and change the Volumio counterpart. Anyone else ever encounter this? Maybe an android file manger app would work but they have their own set of downsides.

Presumably you have set up your hdd as a Samba share, since you can access it via Windows. There is no reason why another RPi device with Samba installed can’t access it in a similar way.

Thanks for reply. Samba is installed on the desktop/control Pi. I purged and reinstalled to make sure and same status. I did find a post from three years ago with similar problem:

Suggested fix was to edit samba file on the Volumio/object Pi. I will give it a try when I get a chance to retrieve the player. Still perplexed that Windows can access but Raspbian can’t while both can access Rune.
