90.000 songs (abt 1.4TB) on USB HDD possible?

At home I have my entire music library (abt 90k songs, 1.4TB, about 40 pct ALAC lossless format, maximum resolution 24/96) stored on a NAS with Roon as Player/Core.

Now I am looking for a budget “standalone” solution for our tiny summer cottage (with internet access and WiFi but no NAS) and wonder if I could achieve this with Volumio and a Raspberry Pi as follows:

  • Raspberry Pi with IQAudio DigiAmp (which I alrady own) running headless
  • Music Library stored on 2TB HDD (with own power supply) attached to Raspberry via USB
  • MyVolumio account (I have a Tidal subscription as well)
  • using ipad or smartphone for navigation

Before proceeding I would like to know if the Raspberry (which is no formula 1 racer in terms of CPU and USB connection) will be capable of properly handling this pretty large library.

Any feedback/experience would be most welcome!

Thanks in advance,

Jens
