7 pin I2S Odroid C2

I have run Volumio on my ODroid C2 successfully for a few weeks. However, I just tried connecting I2S from the 7-pin header directly to the RJ45 input of my Audio-GD DAC. I am certain the wiring I have is correct. I selected a generic hat DAC from the Volumio output options. Unfortunately there is no playback from my DAC,

So my question is this, is the generic HAT DAC I2S output operating only on the 40 pin GPIO, or are the I2S outputs on the 7-pin I2S output also active? If the 7 pin is not activated, do I have to enable it elsewhere?

I’ve attached a picture of my wiring. Note that MCLK is not connected in my case. This was recommended by Audio-GD.

There is no “generic” Odroid HAT, there are 3: hifi shield, hifi shield+ and hifi shield2.
Which one are you referring to?
The shield/ shield+ only use the 7-pin connector, the shield 2 uses the 7-pin and a few gpio lines from the 40-pin (sda/scl and more).

There are also discussions in other forums on the net, just google a little.
