I use the display as in the photo from Aliexpress.
And I use a hand-made layout (if I correctly understand you), without buttons and encoder, but now will plan add it, because the problem was with right encoder connection
And I also have a Pi Zero W 
, so I plan to connect a display to it and check different versions of Volumio 2.907 + Volumiobuster-3.083 & 3.101, maybe I’ll do it tonight or this weekend.
