Will the offical touch display work on a RasPi 3 Model B+

Hi,
I have a RasPi 3 B+ with Volumio and a MyVolumio account. All working fine.
I want to put a touchscreen to it. I prefer the offical RasPi model. Will it work?

The Plugin sais this:
Volumio touch.PNG

And this thread is getting me nervous:

Any comment?

I plan on doing this project at the moment…

Thanks for the help.
Best.

Hello,

For me, it worked, but:

  1. don’t have anything plugged as USB while installing, otherwise the installation freezes at 70%. I was in this case (external USB DAC plugged), but it is only a wrong information, installation was actually finished correctly (checked in the log), and worked after a reboot).

  2. I am facing performance issues while booting (see https://volumio.org/forum/installing-the-touch-display-plugin-t6032.html). Sometimes it’s fast, sometimes it runs out of memory, so I have to hard reboot…

I seems to me that disabling samba, ntp and timesyncd may help solving the issue, but not 100% sure yet. Still strange to me that sometimes, the system becomes ready quite fast, and sometimes, it can take several minutes (4/5 mns), although booting from same situation and configuration.

  1. I think I did not have the message you have while installing… Don’t know why. Different version? I’m using 2.513.

Good luck!

It does work, however it’s quite a heavy power draw and I would recommend powering the screen separately (via its microUSB).

I’m using a iFi to power both at present but do have occasional undervoltage messages which is odd when the iFi is supposed to provide 5v@2.5a).

I confirm: separated power supplies are recommended. Same here.
