Why Tidal Connect cost CAD$87?

I would say a full featured lifetime license

totally agree ! I would like to switch to Tidal and don’t need all the fancy stuff in the ā€œpremiumā€ plan, only the Tidal connect plugin. I would gladly make a one time payment for the use of it

then it’s your lucky day, as long as the licenses are available or the time slot ends.

Thanks for mentioning it but unfortunately, I don’t have FaceBook and as I stated, I don’t need all the options in the ā€œPremiumā€ plan… which would make it too expensive for me.

There aren’t many products where you can just get the bit you want and not buy the rest. I’d like some basic photo processing tools, but not an Adobe suite. Or a mango without the stone. At least with Volumio there’s a whole lot of player for free.

I understand what the OP means. I’m a Volumio Premium subscriber and, overall, a relatively satisfied user with a couple of Raspberry Pi nodes at home, a NAS, and integration with Qobuz and Spotify. I appreciate how Volumio works—it has a manageable learning curve that isn’t too steep, but it’s not without its flaws, occasionally experiencing the odd hiccup or issue.

I’ve often wondered if switching to small WiiM nodes might be a better option. While I enjoy tinkering with the Raspberry Pis and embrace the DIY approach, there are moments when I question whether a simpler, more cost-effective solution like WiiM would make life easier.

I’m not ready to switch, but what I am saying is that I understand the viewpoint that other solutions are arguably more tempting.

I’m currently enjoying Volumio Premium. Set-up was straightforward and it seems to be working perfectly for what I need.

I don’t know if this is a dead issue or if I’m flogging a dead horse but I’m of similar mind to the OP.

I can’t imagine we’d see Tidal Connect in the free version of Volumio as I think Tidal holds Tidal Connect close to their vest and selectively licences it to third-parties. $$

I’m only looking for Tidal Connect functionality for my RPi4. No criticism intended, but the additional cost of ā€˜full-featured’ Volumio doesn’t appeal to me and my Volumio Premium subscription will lapse.

I would love to see a ā€˜Volumio Tidal Connect’ product either lifetime or subscription.
.

These aren’t the droids you were looking for, I’m afraid.

Well I’ve just swapped Volumio for a Wiim for a friend, a local musician, as they want to stream sound-cloud from their phone and don’t want to pay an open ended subscription to do it. Had there been a choice I would have been happy to make a one off payment to Volumio. To be honest I’ve always been frustrated at Volumio’s inability to provide terms I would accept to pay them.

Not sure why you have chosen Soundcloud, which is available as plugin free of charge on the free Volumio version.
Completely missing the point your trying to make?

Occasionally there is an offer for life time licenses, but they are gone fast. So keep checking Facebook.
You can also opt for Volumio hardware, which comes with a full lifetime license. At this moment there is s flash sell ending on 14-Apr-2025 @11:00
