Why Tidal Connect cost CAD$87?

I would say a full featured lifetime license

totally agree ! I would like to switch to Tidal and donā€™t need all the fancy stuff in the ā€œpremiumā€ plan, only the Tidal connect plugin. I would gladly make a one time payment for the use of it

then itā€™s your lucky day, as long as the licenses are available or the time slot ends.

Thanks for mentioning it but unfortunately, I donā€™t have FaceBook and as I stated, I donā€™t need all the options in the ā€œPremiumā€ planā€¦ which would make it too expensive for me.

There arenā€™t many products where you can just get the bit you want and not buy the rest. Iā€™d like some basic photo processing tools, but not an Adobe suite. Or a mango without the stone. At least with Volumio thereā€™s a whole lot of player for free.

I understand what the OP means. Iā€™m a Volumio Premium subscriber and, overall, a relatively satisfied user with a couple of Raspberry Pi nodes at home, a NAS, and integration with Qobuz and Spotify. I appreciate how Volumio worksā€”it has a manageable learning curve that isnā€™t too steep, but itā€™s not without its flaws, occasionally experiencing the odd hiccup or issue.

Iā€™ve often wondered if switching to small WiiM nodes might be a better option. While I enjoy tinkering with the Raspberry Pis and embrace the DIY approach, there are moments when I question whether a simpler, more cost-effective solution like WiiM would make life easier.

Iā€™m not ready to switch, but what I am saying is that I understand the viewpoint that other solutions are arguably more tempting.
