volumio wifi switches to 10.0.0.2 ip address

I have volumio (recent release on RPi 3) working fine on my home wifi network, but it doesn’t work on a friend’s wifi network.
We have tried for hours to figure out what is happening but we are stumped.
I turn on the RPi and give it lots of time to boot up. I try to find it with my iphone on the local net and it does not respond to “volumio.local”. I plug in the RPi to ethernet cable and Volumio does respond and play. I check the Network settings and enter the correct password for the local wifi network. Volumio shows it connected. I unplug the ethernet and Volumio disconnects and doesn’t respond at all to “volumio.local”. I plug in the ethernet cable and volumio works again. I check the volumio network screen and it shows both ethernet and wifi connections working and connected. I use the ip address to connect to volumio on wifi. I unplug the ethernet cable and volumio works for about 20 minutes. Then volumio stops responding to the ip address connection. “volumio.local” doesn’t work either. I plug in the ethernet cable and use “volumio.local” and volumio responds correctly. When I check the network screen, volumio now has the wifi network ip address as 10.0.0.2.

I’d really like to know what is going on and I’d like to get some stability with volumio on wifi.

H-E-L-P! ;^)

Thanks in advance.
