VOLUMIO soundcheck invitation for Hamburg, Germany

Hello
I can not quite understand that. I suspect something is wrong with the nCore amp that was used. He is probably too weak, the MP series unsuitable or anything else. I don’t know…
We made our amp comparisons with nCore 400 nCore 500. The results were extremely positive on nCore. We all had the old amplifiers sold and now only use nCore 400 or nCore 500 amps.

Hi rost21A
yes, the 75W amp was probably too weak for my 2 pairs of 4 OHM speaker. i also think the MP series is only an entrance modul.
Seriously, I would not want to swap my marantz PM6003 for the little hypex mp.
think, you have to go for nCore 400 or better nCore 500 amps for being more satisfied.
On the other hand, there are other alternatives from the price of a nCore 500 amp.
I also heard that some manufacturers here are also having an amplifier in their pipeline… (BOSC, etc.)
best, judydudi

Judi,

Are you testing the Katana exactly the way it comes from the factory or did you upgrade the power supplies?

If so which ones are you using and how many?

Thanks;
Leo

Hello
These amps from Purifi should, according to first reports of experience, beat everything that has been developed so far. I’m looking forward to the prices …
Also developed by the Class-D father … Bruno Putzeys

Those new AMPs look amazing , very revealing . Lets see how they sound.

yes I am also curious about the new digital amplifiers, but

Guys, I’d like to let you know that I’ve found the right amp for my future DAC board soundchecks.
I am now the proud owner of a Cambridge audio azur 651w.

In addition, I have decided to make modifications to the amplifier.
Mr. Horwege did that for me. About 60 components were replaced.
Now, the amplifier brings the sound into the room with a great clarity, fast, effortless and with beautiful timbres, just as the sound is
So it sounds better than anything I had before.
I’m looking forward to the next soundchecks… again focused on the I2S volumio devices.

Can you please post the exact configuration of all the devices from the last sound check. Especially if components like power supplies were upgraded form what comes from the factory.

Thanks

Hi leo, this is everything i have…

(Khadas with latest firmware update)

I think that in order to make this a much more fair comparison the factory PSU should be used for all units as most users will not upgrade the PSUs as you have.

As a separate note how much does the Thel dual LPS cost?

Looks like 118€

http://www.thel-audioworld.de/module/NT-HQ/NT-HQ.htm

you are right. pecanpi and primo were disadvantaged by the choice of a better power supply with the other devices.
I will use the normal allo 5v3a power supply for all devices in which no power supply is shipped with, on next event.
However, I do not think the difference was very important especially because of the amp.

ps :

so similar to sbooster lps

His Judy,

Why don’t you use a Class A amplifier, like a Jean Hiraga or F5 etc. It brings out the best musicality.

Regards.

Amp looks good , THD+N looks good .

When will you have the new Soundcheck ? Hopefully we will have our new DAC out

@ALLO: Are you bringing out a new DAC after the Katana?

Yes. Before you ask,ess9038q2m (but its about implementation not DAC ic)

Name : Revolution .

The output stage is using opa1612 (the best monolitic opamp)
USB input
DSD 512 tested and working perfectly .

Dac is working on synchronous mode with all DPLLs disabled (a la Katana) . No crossover distortion… !!

I have been working with Joe Rasmussen behind the scenes for a while now (he has designed the SQ filter of Katana SQ)
He is a famous modder from Australia that takes hi end DACs and…makes them better .

Revolution incorporates a lot of his work .

We think it will bring the THD+N believers (Right not we are at -115 THD+N I see only 2 dacs in the world measuring better) to agree with SQ ones. We want the new DAC to unite the 2 opposing camps .Designed for SQ and no distortion 20db under hearing threshold… price rather on the lower side. A revolution in every sense of the word

Great !!

Hey music lovers
it’s time. summer vacation ends and we like to go on with our soundimprovements

So, this is the invitation for the next soundcheck in beautifull Hamburg, germany on september, 26 8pm.

We like to hear these great boards:

01 allo: Katana and Isolator 1.2
02 Orchard Audio: PecanPi DAC streamer
03 Volumio: ‘Primo’ (on Tinkerboard S)
04 Khadas: generic tone board USB DAC
05 OSA electronics: DACBerry pro+ with osa isolator board
06 Collybia: Mamboberry HD DAC+ Crystek v2
07 abacus: AroioDac
08 IQaudio: PI DAC PRO

We will have two rounds, first all played with allo 5V3A psu (or with player shipped psu),
second all with ultra low noise linear psu.
Many thanks to Oriol from OSA electronics to give the Soundcheck his brand new developed ULPS1225A Dual Ultra Low Noise Linear Power Supply.
It’s available in 5V,9V and 12V.

The setup is improved again. We are using the cambridge audio 651W amp, 8 line RCA switch from dodocus, ELAC FS78 and ELAC BS244.3 speaker.
The rca signal line is less a meter including the switch.

so it’s free to come. just write an email to linux @ kompage.de to register and getting more information…

Soundcheck is an independent and non profit association of HI-FI enthusiasts, gathering together to evaluate with double-blind methodology several Audio equipments. (typically I2S hats for Raspberry PI)
Many thanks to all supporters, to make this soundcheck as great as it is!
(Orchardaudio, allo, collybia, osa and last but not least volumio)

we heard in the past:

Reclocker: Kali, ApplePi Reclocker, 3R USB Renaissance, iFi iPurifier2
USB-DAC: iFi nano ione, Elac EA101EQ-G

Attaboy Judy !! 《Thumbs up》

Hi, Judy

May I ask you what’s your setup for the Azur 651W? Do you use a preamp? And what speakers?

Thanks and regards,

Miguel

Thank you very much for your kind words to that what we are doing with the soundcheck.

I think the board developers have many construction sites to produce the best sound.
DAC, clock, caps, noise cleaning, etc… another site is to have to an eye on the price.
The rpi clock might not be perfect, so a developer might think about to replace.
when i am right, the iqaudio DAC works in master mode too.
( uses the DAC PLL to sync)
so, no kali can be used for reclocking.
i think the iqaudio is great for the price. no big mistake done. a solid development.
i just bought the new iqaudio DAC pro and like the XLR board & Case option…
hope that helps. best, jens
