Very hard to say what is causing this without providing logs. Please, send us logs and we can see what happens in your situation (which is not the usual experience) and possibly fix it.

Volumio is designed to be operated entirely from User Interface, so ALL users can benefit from it, not only tech savvy ones.
Of course the system will not properly if you change stuff manually, since you are introducing variables which developers did not prepare the system for.
What is the reason you do manual changes? What settings do you need which are not part of the UI configuration?
You did not report anything, just complain in a not constructive manner, even when the correct answer to your question has been given.
