Yesterday i have upgraded Volumio ( premium subscription ) to the latest version. I immediately noticed two things.
a. Tried to play DSD tracks from my external ssd as usual until the update and noticed that the screen on my Topping DX3pro+ was indicating PCM output rather than DSD. In the volumio screen though it indicates DSD in the player screen.
b. Cannot update my external ssd content. I navigate to library, i can see my usb ssd properly but just a couple of files and afterhitting update - rescan nothing happens. Tried switching ports / restarts / etc, no luck.
Volumio is running on RRi 3B, latest version, usb dac is Topping DX3pro+ and a seagate external ssd is also hooked to my RPi via USB.
Any suggestions?
Hello,
The DSD playback is thoroughly tested during our QA processes before each release. It’s unusual that your DAC is recognizing DSD files as PCM. We’ll need to investigate this further, as well as the issue with the SSD content updating.
In the meantime, you can try the following steps:
- Perform a factory reset from the system menu.
- Reinstall the RPI IMG from scratch by flashing the SD card.
If they don’t help:
- Send us a log link immediately after the issues occur.

Running Volumio
have a few test tracks and the topping DX3Pro+ is showing DSD. So I expect you either have a plugin installed, like: FusionDSP, Peppy_Meter (modular alsa) that interfere with the audio.
Or you’re using software Volume control.
Thank you both for the replies. The solution was to disable the multiroom setting. As soon as i set that to off everything performed great!
