Volumio iPhone App

Hello.

Maybe I completely misunderstood what Volumio does or is supposed to do, but my goal was first and foremost to play my large music collection anywhere in the world via my iPhone. In looking further at what Volumio can do, I have purchased a HiFiBerry DAC+ Pro to connect to a Raspberry Pi 3 and play my music files within my LAN at home.

I don’t yet have the HiFiBerry DAC. So I cannot comment about listening to my music through my stereo system. But I have successfully installed Volumio on the Raspberry 3 and it seems to work fine. I made Volumio’s IP address static and I forwarded to port so that I can reach it from anywhere, Apparently, though that last step may not have been necessary. Anyway, the bottom line is that I can see and interact well enough with Volumio from my MacBook Pro AND on my iPhone. I can see and interact with Volumio on my iPhone using the app, as well as by logging into the WEBUI.

However, unfortunately, In all these situations, I have no sound.

Should I not be able to listen to my music through my iPhone though the Volumio app? Forget my music files for a moment, what about the internet radios. I have no sound whatever my settings.

I hope someone can explain what I am doing wrong. I appreciate your assistance.

Many thanks.

Sorry, but you appear to have a misconception as to to the function of Volumio. It plays music locally (i2s, usb, hdmi) from the device on which it is installed. Volumio is run headerless, and is controlled via a web interface on a mobile etc. It does NOT stream content to the mobile.

I use the HiByMusic app on the iPad to stream music from RPI 3 running Volumio. I can access the music library as a SAMBA share and play anywhere within the LAN network. I guess, that’s nothing to do with Volumio, as any NAS library can be played that way.

Thanks sup27606. I’ll look at your suggestion regarding the HiByMusic app. Maybe that is the missing piece in my set up.

Best.
