Volumio android (or Iphone) app disconnects after being idle for some time

Volumio on RPi 4 hardwired to my router. I use the Volumio android app on Amazon tablet (because the web app is way too fragile). When I ‘Pause’ music play and then attempt to ‘Play’ some time later (1-2 hrs or perhaps a day or two), nothing happens. The app seems to be locked up or the player is locked up - I can’t determine what is at fault. Restarting the tablet app results in ‘trying to find Volumio’…and it never does. Then, Power cycling the RPi and then restarting the phone app will result in a connection. (a side effect of this is that the Spotify connection is broken.)
It is not clear where the problem is.
To avoid this issue, perhaps there is a ‘proper’ way to pause the playback? or a workaround to this issue?

The spotify disconnect is annoying. The strange thing is that after restarting the Android app, spotify is not on the home page. I have to go into plugins → installed and I see spotify, it is shown as ‘active’ and ‘on’. I have to turn it to Off, then back to On (the Active indicator changes accordingly.) Then I go back to the home page and the spotify service has appeared and is in fact connected.
Is this the way it is suppose to behave? if not, pls describe how it is to behave and what workaround is possible.
