Update to 3.512 caused problem on dsd

I just updated my pi4 to version 3.512 and now on DSD files there is an accompanying hiss to the music. Before the update all was fine,

I am using a SMSL m400 dac and volumio recognises it as SMSL USB AUDIO. When changing the mixer type from None to Software the hiss disappears. That setting only shows those 2 options. I understand software is not as good.

Any clues?

(sorry if answered elsewhere)

It could be a known issue we’re about to solve in the coming releases… could you please try to disable multiroom, reboot and try again?

Thanks for replying.
Unfortunately my volumio is just the plain vanilla one and has no multiroom capabilities. I checked and it is inactive anyway.

What do you mean with plain vanilla Volumio?

Sorry, just an English expression meaning basic with no added bits. ie the free one.

Is the problem with DSD playback still there?

we have a pending fix, but it’s causing problems with FusionDSP, so we didn’t release it yet

thanks for the info

Just updated volumio to the latest version 3.546 and the problem is still there. :frowning:

The update may have been co-incidental.
What else have you tried to isolate/solve the issue?

Have you changed anything else in your setup?

Have you tried a different USB port?
Reseat all cables, USB, interconnect, power etc?

Hope this helps.

This is because we did not release this fix on this image. This fix required 2 fixes: our multiroom switcher fix (done) and an mpd update. The mpd update unfortunately broke compatibility of fusion DSP and streaming services. So we concluded that breaking fusion dsp (a widely used and loved feature) was not an option. So we reverted the mpd update.

We are still working on it, which involves going deeper and deeper into the alsa realms trying to spot and fix the regression.

Grazie. Will wait…
