update folder and volume control.

Ive got volumio working and it sounds real good, it’s connected via allo digione and an old meridian 5 series dsp and dac.

My configuration is one pi running osmc, one pi running volumio, and one pi running open media vault (OMV) as a file server. there is no local storage on the volumio system. all music is accessed over the network from the OMV file server.

Problem 1 is easy to explain. the volumio volume control on the web page doesn’t seem to work.
my mixer options are software and none. i have default “software” at the moment.
no mixer control name.
the volume never changes as i modify the volume.
the mute button does not work

the webpage volume control does not work on a smartphone, nor a laptop.
I haven’t downloaded the app on my smartphone.
any ideas?

problem 2 is harder.
i’ve got a music sub folder set up on OMV, which contains about 250 files organised by artist, with subfolders for each album. the total size of the music folder is about 250GB.

I did an original test by copying and pasting about 10 artists onto OMV and it all worked fine. volumio found them all.

Then I copied over the full 250GB onto OMV. OSMC and windows can access all the files on OMV without problems.

However when i select “update folder” on volumio, the update goes very fast for about 50 albums and then hangs with arrows circling on the browse button. Ive waited hours for it to advance further without success

ive tried stopping and restarting the update, and restarting volumio. it just wont go past the same folder.

Any ideas on what happens. My feeling is volumio is running out of space somewhere as it always hangs in the same place
