I need help to install this nice plugin. I have make a new sd-Card with an fresh Image (newest from 26.07.18) The install and the wizard is ok. Network is no problem, but the biggest problem is the touchdisplay plugin. I installed this, but the gui don’t apear. I see only the login screen.
In attached file i have the logfile of installation of the plugin.
Is this last row “debconf: unable to initialize frontend: Dialog” the reason for the problem ?
I’m meeting exactly the same issue. I tried a lot of time to install this plugin without success.
Each time the installation stayed stuck at 70% and asking for a keyboard choice. The previous message says that I don’t have screen but it is well connected. I can even see the Volumio prompt on it.
Edit : Some progresses there. Now after to remove the plugin folder through SSH and reinstall it, it stops at 70% saying that it was well installed. After to activate it and reboot my system, I have now a grey screen with the arrow mouse in the centre.

Edit bis : I found a working solution in the forum :
Log in with SSH
'rescue' the failed install: sudo dpkg --configure -a
(you will have to select the language now, but with SSH this is no issue)
uninstall the plugin and re-install the plugin (both in volumio webGUI)
the progress bar may stay at 70%, but after a while (some 10 mins to be sure) you can check activity of 'apt-get' in SSH with top
make sure to enable the plugin in the volumio webGUI plugins-page
It solved it, thx to Balkema to have posted that. It makes my day
